At Embellish Salon, our mission is to serve every guest with Christ-centered hospitality, compassion, and excellence. We believe beauty is more than what’s seen, it’s how you feel when you’re cared for with kindness and intention.
Our team is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where faith and creativity meet. Through professional hair care, holistic esthetic treatments, and restorative massage services, we strive to nurture both inner peace and outer beauty.
Grounded in our values of faith, hospitality, community, and creativity, every service is offered with the purpose of uplifting confidence, honoring individual worth, and reflecting God’s love in all we do.
I began my hair journey at a very young age. In 4th grade, I told my mom I wanted to do hair. In high school, I did my friends’ hair and makeup and braided and cut all my Barbie dolls’ hair. I graduated from cosmetology school in December of 1991.
My first job was at Regis in the mall. My next job was in Cairo at The Clip Joint for six months. I was praying for a new opportunity, as it was 12-hour days and there were no windows in the salon. One night, coming out of work, the owner of Kathy’s Cottage of Beauty (her name was Kathy) was leaving her salon and asked me if I’d like a job! I said an emphatic yes. I started there and worked under her for two years, learning from three amazing stylists and pioneers in the industry. What huge blessings in my life Deb Roth and Marcia McDonald were to me!
In 1994, the three of us bought the salon and renamed it Touch of Class Salon. I owned that salon for 24 years. Our kids at the time were going to Nebraska Christian School, and we felt God pulling our family to Central City. Donna Myers, owner of Shear Country, called and asked if I’d like to work part-time for her. I thought, I can’t do that! My husband said, "Why not?," I was already in Central City for the kids’ activities.
I began working two days a week in Central and three days in Cairo. I was then blessed to buy Shear Country in 2017. I owned both salons for about a year, but the struggle of owning two salons was proving to be far too much. As I was cutting Dan Poppe’s hair, he wisely said to me, “Where does God have you right now? You can’t do both justice, one or both will suffer.” I knew I had to let Cairo go. It was terribly hard; I loved the people and the town so much, but I knew God was moving us to Central City.
Since then, God has blessed me with amazing girls, Tabitha, Renae, Reghan, and Sarah, and He continues to bless the salon. I truly love what I do and love the gift of serving people in the salon!

The building that Embellish Salon now calls home holds a rich piece of Central City history. Originally, the land was purchased from the railroad in 1867, marking the early days of the town’s development.
In the 1950s, the space became The Vogue Salon, owned by Alice Petersen, serving the community with classic beauty services of the time. During the 1970s, it found new life as Robert’s Shoe Service, meeting the town’s everyday needs in a different way. By 1975, it transitioned into a Farm Bureau Insurance office.
In 1980, Donna Myers purchased the building and opened Shear Country Salon, which served Central City clients for nearly four decades. In 2017, Christi purchased the business and began a new chapter as Embellish Salon, continuing the legacy of care, creativity, and community that has filled these walls for generations.
A place to heal, relax, and revive.

I believe God gives each of us gifts. I'm so thankful that He has given me a gift of touch. Through Him I am confident that I can help individuals feel relaxed, safe, and ease some discomfort and pain they have been dealing with.
